TCS, Trent, Bharti Airtel Among NIFTY50 Stocks Yielding Over 10% Returns in October 2026

In October 2026, eight NIFTY50 constituents delivered returns exceeding 10% for investors, with IT giants Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Tech Mahindra topping the list alongside retail retailer Trent, telecom operator Bharti Airtel, and exchange services provider BSE. The month’s performance was highlighted by a 0.51% rise in the benchmark NIFTY50 to 23,053.10 points on Friday, October 30, up from 22,936.75 points at the previous close, while the BSE SENSEX gained 0.42% to 74,459.53 points from 74,151.04 points. These gains reflected robust Q2 earnings momentum amid geopolitical tensions, high crude prices, and foreign selling pressure. The NIFTY50 returned 1.9% and the SENSEX 2.7% over the month, underscoring a positive equity environment.

TCS closed at ₹2,502, posting a 22% one‑month return and a 1‑day decline of 1%. Tech Mahindra finished at ₹1,790 with a 17.5% monthly gain and no change over five days. Infosys traded at ₹1,185, achieving a 19.2% return and a 2.7% rise in the last five days. HCL Technologies ended at ₹1,428, delivering 16.1% monthly growth and a 0.4% five‑day increase. Trent’s shares closed at ₹3,017, yielding 15% over the month and 10.6% in five days, while Kotak Mahindra Bank at ₹461.60 returned 10.7% and 7.2% respectively. BSE and Bharti Airtel finished at ₹3,510 and ₹1,973, with 13.5% and 12.3% monthly returns and 8.6% and 4.3% five‑day gains.

Trent’s Q2 FY27 results showed consolidated profits of ₹464 crore, up 23% YoY, and revenues of ₹5,259 crore, a 20% rise. EBITDA margins expanded 140 basis points to 18.35% from 16.95% a year earlier. The company’s gross margin resilience and like‑for‑like growth were cited as tailwinds, while concerns over elevated costs and revenue productivity in the second half of FY27 remained. These earnings underpinned the 15% return seen in October, reflecting investor confidence in the retailer’s performance amid inflationary pressures.

Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Q2 FY27 figures revealed net interest income of ₹8,459 crore, a 16% YoY increase, and net profit of ₹4,212 crore, up 29%. Net interest margin softened to 4.31% from 4.54%, while gross NPA contracted to 1.04% from 1.39% a year earlier. The bank’s asset quality improvement and robust earnings contributed to its 10.7% monthly return, aligning with the broader banking sector’s positive trend during the month.

The IT sector’s top performers—TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, and HCL Technologies—benefited from a 17% rise in the Nifty IT index and a 1.9% weekly gain. Tech Mahindra reported net profits of ₹1,465 crore, up 8.2% sequentially, and revenues of ₹15,712 crore, up 15.6% YoY. TCS posted net profits of ₹13,884 crore, up 15% YoY, with core revenue growth of 11.2% and a 162‑basis‑point drop in EBITDA margin to 25.70%. Infosys cut FY27 revenue guidance to 1%-2% but maintained a 20%-22% operating margin, reporting net profit of ₹7,823 crore, a 6% YoY rise.

BSE’s October performance was buoyed by corporate announcements and heightened market participation. The exchange acquired an additional stake in India International Bullion Holding IFSC Limited for ₹9.28 crore, raising its holding to 5.54% from 3.33%. BSE also entered an agreement with MSCI to explore futures and options contracts linked to its indexes, pending regulatory approval. Bharti Airtel’s shares gained 12% as the telecom sector rallied following Jio Platforms’ mega IPO, with the company set to report July‑September FY26‑27 results on November 5, 2026, focusing on ARPU, margins, revenue growth, and subscriber additions.
