Reliance Retail Q2 FY27 Profit Falls 24.5% as JioMart Revenue Climbs 42%
Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries, announced its July‑September 2026‑27 quarter results on Friday, October 30. The company reported a consolidated profit after tax of ₹2,619 crore, a 24.5% year‑on‑year decline from ₹3,469 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Revenue from operations rose 5.8% YoY to ₹80,220 crore, up from ₹75,836 crore in Q2 FY26. The decline in profit was attributed to a shift in the festive calendar to Q3, which impacted business performance, according to Reliance Retail Ventures (RRVL).
Operating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) before a one‑time impairment cost stood at ₹6,228 crore in Q2 FY27, down 8.6% YoY from ₹6,816 crore in Q2 FY26. EBITDA margin contracted by 120 basis points to 7.8% for the quarter, versus 9% in the prior year, as a planned investment phase in Digital Commerce, input cost inflation absorbed for customers, and the festive shift to Q3 moderated the margin. The company also noted a 7% YoY growth in transactions despite the festival shift, indicating strong customer engagement.
During the quarter, Reliance Retail opened 303 stores, resulting in a net reduction of 222 stores after accounting for closures of unproductive outlets. The total store count stood at 19,947, with an area of 77.5 million sq.ft, a 0.4% YoY decline. Segment‑wise, the grocery segment delivered broad‑based growth, recording a 3% YoY like‑for‑like (LFL) increase and absorbing part of input cost inflation. The segment highlighted festive‑led in‑store experiences across Jagannath Yatra, Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami to strengthen regional engagement.
JioMart, the company’s digital commerce platform, saw 42% YoY revenue growth, driven by higher average order values and a 24% increase in units per order. Free delivery encouraged customers to build larger baskets, contributing to higher average order values. The share of Digital Commerce in business‑to‑client grocery revenue increased by 270 basis points YoY. Dark‑store productivity remained a key focus, with performance tracked by cohort to drive higher order density and reduce cost per order. The consumer electronics business delivered 8% YoY LFL growth, supported by improved product availability, competitive pricing and targeted promotions.
The fashion & lifestyle segment delivered steady revenue growth, with 3% YoY LFL growth. Apparel and footwear stores maintained sales without the full‑price festive weeks. Own brands sustained growth momentum, led by fresh womenswear collections and a sharper focus on evolving customer preferences, with contribution increasing by 710 basis points YoY. Digital commerce share of apparel and footwear revenue increased by 100 basis points YoY. The distribution business saw revenue surge 20% YoY, supported by mobiles and laptops.
Isha M. Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, said the company is building a future‑ready retail business by combining its extensive physical network with digital convenience, technology and a deep understanding of Indian consumers. She added that the new model with fast‑growing Digital Commerce and B2B channels is working and funded by the profits of offline business, and that the company is well positioned to serve customers across India with quality, value and choice this festive season. Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, noted that Reliance Retail had a steady quarter, with growth sustained across all formats and channels, and that consumer demand stayed healthy, supported by the company’s extensive physical and digital presence and its continued focus on serving the diverse needs of Indian consumers.
