Jaiprakash Power Ventures Shares Surge 14% After Settlement with NARCL
Jaiprakash Power Ventures shares rose 13.7% to an intraday high of ₹17.49 on the National Stock Exchange on Monday, September 21, up from Friday’s closing price of ₹15.37. The rally followed the settlement of claims between the company and the National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL). The agreement resolved the dispute that had prompted the company’s earlier insolvency proceedings. Investors noted the sharp price movement as the settlement was announced.
In a regulatory filing dated September 21, Jaiprakash Power Ventures and NARCL agreed to settle the matter by paying ₹511 crore as full and final payment, along with fulfilling other conditions and executing definitive agreements. The filing also stated that the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code proceedings would be withdrawn once all settlement conditions are met. This clause signals the company’s intent to terminate the corporate insolvency resolution process once the agreed payment and conditions are satisfied.
The company had earlier announced the initiation of the IBC proceeding in a filing on February 27, 2026. The notice informed that an application had been filed before the Hon’ble National Company Law Tribunal Allahabad Bench at Prayagraj for the initiation of a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process under section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, against the company by NARCL Trustee through its Power of Attorney holder, India Debt Resolution Company Limited. The claim cited a default amount of ₹511,72,82,207 plus interest and other charges related to a corporate guarantee extended to Jaiprakash Associates Limited.
After the settlement announcement, the shares closed 7.22% higher at ₹16.48 per equity share. Over the past week, the scrip has advanced 6%, but it has lost 1% over the month and fallen 4% on a year‑to‑date basis. The 52‑week high of ₹24.50 was reached on May 29, 2026, while the lowest point of ₹13.15 was recorded on March 29, 2026. These figures illustrate the stock’s volatility amid the resolution process.
As of September 21, 2026, Jaiprakash Power Ventures had a total market capitalisation of ₹11,294.50 crore according to NSE data. The company’s market value reflects its position in the Indian power generation and infrastructure sector.
