Jio Platforms Debut Sparks Ambani’s Call for AI‑Driven Empowerment
On Wednesday, Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) made its debut on the Indian stock exchanges, and its Managing Director Akash Ambani addressed employees in an email. He said the listing is not a destination but a new beginning, and that the company must now lead the next wave of technological transformation. He linked the company’s progress to the Reliance philosophy that ‘what is good for India is good for Reliance’, and urged employees to keep dreaming, innovating, executing and learning.
The shares of Jio Platforms surged 21% against the issue price of ₹1,119 on the day of the debut, making the company the second most valuable domestic firm by market capitalisation. The IPO was described as a blockbuster, and the listing culminated in India’s largest ever IPO. The market reaction reflected confidence in the company’s ability to deliver on its mission of connecting every unconnected Indian and to lead future technological change.
Ambani wrote that Jio must now lead the next wave of technological transformation, moving from ubiquitous connectivity to digital services, from cloud to artificial intelligence. He said the company’s goal is to make the world’s most advanced technologies affordable, accessible and meaningful for every Indian. He added that the listing brings greater responsibility, higher expectations and an even bigger opportunity to shape India’s digital future, while the mission to connect every unconnected Indian remains unchanged.
He described the day as historic for the Reliance family, noting that Jio had grown in just ten years from a bold vision into one of India’s most consequential enterprises, culminating in India’s largest ever IPO. Ambani credited the vision of Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, saying the group’s philosophy was to dream big, think long‑term and execute with excellence. He highlighted that Jio had transformed how India connects, communicates, learns and works by making data affordable and bringing millions into the digital mainstream.
Ambani thanked employees across functions and geographies, saying their hard work and belief in the mission had made the milestone possible. He urged them to preserve the courage to dream, the hunger to innovate, the discipline to execute and the humility to keep learning. Citing the Reliance philosophy that ‘what is good for India is good for Reliance’, he said the first decade was about connecting India, while the next must be about empowering Indians in the age of AI. He concluded that today they celebrate what they have accomplished together, and tomorrow they return to work with even greater ambition, energy and determination.
