Adani Ports Q2FY27 Results Expected to Show Double‑Digit Growth Amid 15% Cargo Surge
Adani Ports and SEZ, India’s largest private port operator, is set to announce its Q2FY27 results on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Analysts anticipate a strong double‑digit rise in both revenue and net profit, buoyed by a 15% increase in cargo volumes during the first half of FY27. The company’s operational update for September revealed an 11% year‑over‑year rise in cargo volume to 46 million metric tonnes (MMT), with containers and dry cargo each growing 15% YoY. This volume growth is expected to underpin the projected earnings expansion.
Experts project Adani Ports’ revenue to climb 20% to 22% YoY, reaching between ₹10,950 crore and ₹11,210 crore. The forecast is driven by solid domestic demand and tariff hikes, following a revenue of ₹10,821 crore in the previous quarter and ₹9,167 crore in the September quarter of FY26. Net profit is expected to rise 27% to 30% YoY, settling between ₹3,950 crore and ₹4,050 crore, a 9% to 12% increase over the prior quarter, compared with ₹3,620 crore and ₹3,109 crore respectively in the same periods last year.
Investors will focus on management commentary regarding the overall business outlook, the impact of the West Asia crisis on operations, and EBITDA guidance. Ahead of the results, Adani Ports shares closed 0.1% higher at ₹1,754.5 on the NSE on Tuesday, October 27. The stock has gained over 32% this year, outperforming the NIFTY50 index, reflecting strong operational performance and market confidence.
Technically, the stock shows no clear daily direction. After peaking at ₹1,891 in early July, it fell to about ₹1,595 at the start of September, then recovered to trade within ₹1,682 to ₹1,830. The range has narrowed to roughly ₹1,700 to ₹1,790 in recent weeks. It trades just below both its 20‑day and 50‑day EMAs, which are now almost level and flat, with the DMI indicating a slight seller advantage and an ADX of 21.3, suggesting modest selling pressure.
Options market expectations for the November contracts, expiring on November 23, indicate a ±5.6% move, setting an expected range of roughly ₹1,647 to ₹1,841. Historically, Adani Ports reacts calmly on the first day after results, with next‑day moves never exceeding 4.2% in the last nine quarters, and staying within ±3% in eight of those quarters. Larger moves have typically occurred within ten days of results, with more than 5.6% swings in three of the last nine quarters.
For traders anticipating a stable range, a short straddle could be considered, profiting if the stock remains between roughly ₹1,641 and ₹1,839 until November expiry. For those expecting a breakout, a long straddle may be suitable, benefiting from moves below ₹1,641 or above ₹1,839. Both strategies require careful risk management, including stop‑losses, as option premiums usually fall after results, necessitating significant price moves for profitability.
