JSW Infrastructure Q2 FY27 Net Profit Falls 12% Amid Forex Losses, Revenue Rises 17%

JSW Infrastructure reported a consolidated net profit of ₹318 crore for the July‑September quarter of FY27, a 12% decline from ₹361 crore recorded in the same period last year. The company attributed the profit dip mainly to unrealised foreign‑exchange losses arising from the rupee’s depreciation. Despite the profit fall, the firm’s revenue from operations surged 17% year‑on‑year to ₹1,481 crore, up from ₹1,266 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The company’s operating profit, or EBITDA, increased 11% to ₹675 crore, compared with ₹610 crore in Q2 FY26.

The EBITDA margin contracted to 45.58% in Q2 FY27 from 48.17% in Q2 FY26. JSW Infrastructure maintained a net cash position of ₹1,693 crore, with gross debt of ₹7,292 crore and cash and bank balances of ₹8,985 crore. The company’s cargo volumes for India operations grew by 8% year‑on‑year, while total cargo volumes stood at 29.4 million tonnes. The volume increase was driven by improved capacity utilisation at Paradip Coal, Ennore Bulk and Mangalore Coal terminals, and interim operations at Tuticorin Bulk Terminal and Kolkata Container Terminal.

The overall growth was partially offset by a challenging operating environment at Fujairah Liquid Terminal and lower volumes at Jaigarh Port and Paradip Iron Ore Terminal, the firm said. In the ports segment, operational revenue rose 9% to ₹1,202 crore, compared with ₹1,103 crore in the same quarter of FY26, driven by volume growth, ancillary services and rupee depreciation. Operating EBITDA for the segment rose 2% to ₹594 crore, primarily due to volume growth.

The logistics business generated revenue of ₹279 crore, up from ₹163 crore in the same quarter of FY26, with EBITDA margin rising to 28.9% from 15.2% earlier. This improvement was driven by the growing contribution from the rail logistics business. The rail rake fleet increased from 42 rakes at the beginning of the quarter to 78 rakes by quarter‑end, with an additional 32 rakes expected over H2, taking the total fleet to 110 by March 2027.

For the first half of FY27, JSW Infra’s net profit jumped 8% to ₹2,095 crore from ₹1,943 crore year‑on‑year. Its revenue from operations for H1 FY27 stood at ₹2,341 crore, a decline of 46% from ₹4,360 crore in H1 FY26. During the first half, the company handled cargo volumes of 60.5 mt, higher by 4% over the last year, with India operations recording 10% year‑on‑year growth. The higher volumes and the logistics business contributed to 18% year‑on‑year growth in operational revenue.

On Tuesday, 27 October, JSW Infrastructure closed at ₹317.25 on the National Stock Exchange, falling 0.06%. As of that date, the company’s total market capitalisation was ₹73,919.30 crore. The earnings were reported after market hours. The company’s net cash position, gross debt, and cash and bank balances were disclosed as ₹1,693 crore, ₹7,292 crore, and ₹8,985 crore respectively, providing a comprehensive view of its liquidity and leverage status.
