Mazagon Dock Q2 FY27 Profit Falls 54%, Shares Hit 52‑Week Low
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders released its July‑September quarter results for the financial year 2026‑27 on Tuesday, 27 October. The company reported a 54% year‑on‑year decline in consolidated net profit attributable to owners, falling to ₹344 crore from ₹749 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. The drop was driven by a 16.4% reduction in core‑operations revenue and a 1.3% rise in total expenses, which together squeezed margins and reduced earnings.
The company’s revenue from core operations declined 16.4% year‑on‑year to ₹2,446 crore in the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹2,929 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Investors noted that the combination of lower revenues and higher expenses pressured profitability. An increase in allocations to provision expenses, other expenses, and employee costs contributed to the rise in total expenses reported for the quarter.
Following the earnings announcement, Mazagon Dock shares fell 10% intraday, reaching a 52‑week low of ₹1,687.50 on Tuesday, down from ₹1,875 at the previous equity market close. The decline reflected market reaction to the company’s shrinking margins and lower profit outlook. The stock had previously surged to a 52‑week high of ₹2,881.80 on 28 October 2025, but has lost 38% in the past year and 29% YTD in 2026.
The board declared a ₹5 per share interim dividend for all eligible shareholders with a face value of ₹5, fully paid‑up, for the financial year 2026‑27. Investors will be eligible for the dividend payment up to 24 hours ahead of the official record date, which the company fixed as 3 November. The dividend will be paid to shareholders on or before 26 November 2026.
In addition, the board approved an increase in the company’s authorised share capital to ₹900 crore, comprising 180 crore equity shares with a face value of ₹5 each, up from the current ₹323.72 crore at 64,74,40,000 shares. This increase is subject to the necessary statutory and regulatory approvals and represents a significant expansion of the company’s equity base.
At the close of trading on 27 October, Mazagon Dock’s market capitalisation stood at ₹70,752 crore. The stock has delivered 1,228% returns over the last five years and 69% over the last three years, but has fallen 20% in the past month and 15% over the last five market sessions. The 10% intraday drop to ₹1,687.50 marked the lowest intraday price since the company’s 52‑week high, underscoring investor concern over the recent earnings decline.
