Maruti Suzuki Q2 FY27: Revenue Up 26%, Net Profit Down 27%, EBITDA Margin Shrinks

Maruti Suzuki India reported that its total revenue from operations, comprising product sales and other operating income, rose 26% year‑on‑year to ₹53,340 crore in the July‑September quarter of FY27. The company’s standalone net profit fell 27% to ₹2,415 crore, down from ₹3,303 crore during the same period last year. Operating profit, or EBITDA, slipped 6% year‑on‑year to ₹4,764 crore, and the EBITDA margin contracted to 8.93% from 12.01% in the reporting quarter as reported today.

The auto major achieved a record‑high quarterly total sales volume of 696,654 units, a 26.5% increase over the same period last year. Growth was broad‑based, with small‑car sales rising 35.9% and SUV sales climbing 68.2%. Export sales were 108,119 units in Q2, down from 110,487 units YoY, reflecting geopolitical challenges. Non‑operating income declined sharply due to mark‑to‑market losses on invested surplus. This decline impacted overall profitability and contributed to the lower net profit figure in the quarter.

Recent capacity additions have enabled the company to serve strong demand. Even with enhanced production capacity, demand continued to outpace supply, resulting in a low network inventory of about 17 days and pending bookings of about 200,000 units at the end of the quarter. In the first half of FY27, Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest‑ever sales volume of 1,379,378 units, up 27.9% annually, with domestic sales of 1,146,523 units and exports of 232,855 units. Half‑year net sales reached ₹1,00,575 crore, and net profit was ₹5,767 crore, down from ₹7,061 crore YoY.

On Tuesday, Maruti Suzuki India shares closed at ₹11,450 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, rising 2.05%. From the beginning of the year, shares have declined 31%. Over a month’s time, the stock has fallen 4.6%, while for a six‑month period, it has slipped 13%. Shares hit a 52‑week high of ₹17,370 on January 5, 2026, and a 52‑week low of ₹10,985 on October 22, 2026. The company’s total market capitalisation as of October 27, 2026, stands at ₹3.60 lakh crore reflecting its position as the country’s largest carmaker in the industry.

The company’s EBITDA margin contracted to 8.93% in the reporting quarter from 12.01% in the year‑ago period, a decline attributed to commodity price increases linked to the West Asia conflict. Non‑operating income decline due to mark‑to‑market losses on invested surplus further weighed on profitability. Despite these challenges, Maruti Suzuki maintained record sales volumes, underscoring its resilience in a competitive market. The firm also reported that its net sales for the first half of FY27 reached ₹1,00,575 crore, up from ₹76,756 crore in H1 FY26, while net profit for the half‑year fell to ₹5,767 crore from ₹7,061 crore YoY in the quarter.
