Infosys Q2FY27 Results Expected to Show Flat Growth Amid FY27 Guidance Trim

Infosys will announce its Q2FY27 results on Friday, October 23, after market hours. Analysts anticipate low single‑digit sequential growth in revenue and net profit, a modest dip in margins, and a possible cut in FY27 guidance. The company’s stock enters the earnings release with the strongest chart among IT majors this season, trading 0.5% higher at ₹1,156 on the day. Despite a year‑to‑date decline of over 28%, the share price has risen about 17% since its early‑October low near ₹985, reflecting a pause in an uptrend rather than a reversal.

Net profit is projected to range between ₹7,950 crore and ₹8,070 crore, representing an 8% to 10% year‑over‑year increase and a 2% to 4% quarter‑over‑quarter rise. The previous quarter’s net profit stood at ₹7,769 crore, while the same quarter last year recorded ₹7,364 crore. Revenue is expected to climb 1% to 2% sequentially and 10% to 11% year‑over‑year, falling between ₹48,900 crore and ₹49,300 crore. Earlier revenue figures were ₹48,211 crore in the preceding quarter and ₹44,490 crore in the September quarter of FY26.

The company’s EBIT margin is likely to decline by 10 to 30 basis points, settling between 20.9% and 21.3%, due to wage revisions and investment in AI development. Total contract value for the quarter is expected to be around $2.5 billion to $3 billion. Investors will closely monitor management commentary on FY27 guidance, new deal wins, and progress in AI adoption, as these factors could influence the company’s outlook amid soft demand and growth concerns in some segments.

Technical analysis shows Infosys has the strongest chart among IT firms this season. Since breaking above ₹1,113 in mid‑October, the stock has held above that level, trading about 6.5% above both its 20‑day and 50‑day exponential moving averages. The 20‑day EMA is poised to cross above the 50‑day EMA, which would confirm the recovery. The Directional Movement Index indicates a robust trend, with +DI at 34.1 far above -DI at 11.5, and the ADX rising to 29.1, signalling strengthening momentum.

Options market expectations place Infosys futures at ₹1,158, implying a ±4.1% move by expiry and an expected range of roughly ₹1,110 to ₹1,206. Historical data shows that in 5 of the last 12 quarters, the stock moved more than 4.1% on the day after its results, with swings both upward and downward. Notable post‑results moves include a 7.9% jump after Q3FY24, a 5.6% rise after Q3FY26, a 5.8% fall after Q3FY25, and a 6.9% decline after Q4FY26.

Traders considering a sharp post‑results move might employ a long straddle, buying the 1,160 call and put, which would profit if the stock moves below roughly ₹1,112 or above ₹1,208 by expiry. Conversely, a short straddle, selling the 1,160 call and put, could be suitable if the stock remains between strong support at ₹1,113 and resistance at ₹1,190. Alternatively, a bull put spread could be considered if the share closes above ₹1,190, while a bear call spread may suit a decline below ₹1,113.5. Strict stop‑losses are advised due to the stock’s history of large post‑results moves.
