Havells Q2 Earnings: Net Profit Up 11%, EBITDA Jumps 30%

Havells reported a standalone net profit of ₹353 crore for the September quarter, up 11% from ₹317 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations rose 35% to ₹6,417 crore, compared with ₹4,767 crore a year earlier. The Noida‑based electrical equipment and home appliances maker posted these figures on Thursday, October 22.

Havells’ switchgear business revenue increased 31% to ₹782 crore, while its cable business grew 48% to ₹2,999 crore. Lightings revenue rose 7% to ₹449 crore, electrical consumer durables generated ₹1,072 crore, and Lloyd’s revenue advanced 28% to ₹614.50 crore. These segment figures contributed to the overall 35% rise in operating revenue.

The company’s EBITDA advanced 30% to ₹576 crore, but its margin contracted by 30 basis points to 8.98%. Despite high inflation, consumption remained steady in the second quarter, as noted in the investor presentation. Strong switchgear growth was driven by domestic demand pickup and export recovery after first‑quarter disruptions.

Cables margins were affected by aluminium price volatility in the first half of the year, yet the contribution margin stayed at 15%, matching the long‑term average. Renewables margins improved with a better product mix, while lighting margins softened due to certain project orders. Lloyd’s contribution margins remained subdued because of raw‑material inflation and under‑absorption.

Havells shares rose 1.76% to an intraday high of ₹1,090 following the earnings announcement. The company highlighted that consumption remained steady amid high inflation, and that switchgear and cable growth were supported by domestic demand pickup and commodity‑linked price increases. Investors noted the 30‑basis‑point contraction in EBITDA margin and the impact of raw‑material inflation on Lloyd’s segment.
