Tata Power’s Renewable Arm Sees 130% YoY Growth, Targets 2 GW in H2 FY27

Tata Power’s subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) announced on Monday, 12 October that it commissioned 419 MW of utility‑scale projects in Q2 FY27, a rise of more than 130 % year‑on‑year compared with the 182 MW executed in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. The quarter‑ended‑September‑30 report also recorded 131.2 MWh of storage projects, comprising 101.2 MWh for in‑house TPREL and 30 MWh for third‑party projects. These figures underscore the company’s accelerated execution pace in renewable generation and battery storage.

During H1 FY27, TPREL delivered a total of 645 MW of utility‑scale projects and 161.2 MWh of storage projects, with 101.2 MWhr of storage for in‑house use and 60 MWhr for third‑party customers. Key projects commissioned in the first half included the 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project, the Kalasar FDRE Project with 227.5 MW of solar and a 101.2 MWhr Battery Energy Storage System, the 100 MW Kayathar Group Captive Project, and the 72.5 MW Tata Steel Captive Project. These additions expanded the operational portfolio to 7.2 GW, comprising 5.8 GW of solar, 1.3 GW of wind, and 281.2 MWhr of battery storage.

TPREL highlighted that its execution momentum reflects a focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence, supported by a resilient supply chain, experienced partners, and robust project management. The company expects to execute more than 2 GW of projects in H2 FY27, including 1,075 MW of solar, 969 MW of wind, and 274 MWhr of BESS. In addition to in‑house projects, 300 MW of third‑party projects are slated for H2 FY27, bringing the total expected execution for the year to close to 9.3 GW across all segments.

Looking ahead to FY28, Tata Power projects that the remaining ~2.6 GW of projects—comprising 570 MW of solar, 350 MWhr of battery storage, and 1,700 MW of wind—will be completed, elevating TPREL’s overall operational capacity to approximately 12 GW. This trajectory aligns with the company’s long‑term renewable energy expansion strategy and its commitment to diversifying generation mix across geographies.
