Tata Elxsi Shares Surge Over 8% on Strong Revenue and Margin Growth Amid Flat Q2 Profit

Tata Elxsi shares jumped more than 8% after the opening bell on Wednesday, October 14, as investors focused on the company’s better‑than‑expected revenue and margin figures despite flat quarter‑on‑quarter profit growth in the July to September quarter of FY27. NSE data showed the shares surged 8.2% to touch an early market high of ₹3,710 apiece, compared to ₹3,426.70 at the previous equity market close. Trading volumes surpassed 15 lakh equity shares in the morning, marking a nearly three‑times increase in investor activity compared to the one‑week average of 5,13,300 shares.

The surge was driven by high‑volume gains as overall trading activity rose 3.3 times more than the two‑week average of 4,52,963 equity shares, according to exchange data. Tata Elxsi’s stock was rallying on Wednesday’s market due to the high‑volume gains, reflecting a surge in investor interest. The company’s design and technology services business reported a 3.4% quarter‑on‑quarter rise in core operations revenue to ₹1,056 crore in the September quarter, surpassing market estimates.

Despite the revenue increase and margin improvement, Tata Elxsi posted flat net profit after tax at ₹170.2 crore in Q2 FY27, slightly down from ₹170.6 crore in the previous quarter. However, on a year‑on‑year basis, profits jumped 10% to ₹154.81 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. The company’s operating profit or earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose to ₹208 crore in Q2 FY27, up from ₹194 crore in the first quarter of FY27, with a 70 basis point expansion to a 19.7% margin from 19% QoQ.

Experts from JP Morgan noted that Tata Elxsi’s Q2 earnings surpassed estimates on both revenue and margins, citing growth across business verticals, large deals, and new deal wins. The analysts highlighted positive surprise on growth from deal wins in Auto in the US and India, even as EU Auto remained under pressure. They also pointed out that the company’s EBIT margin growth was a positive surprise, with one‑time headwinds of Q1 largely reversed in the September quarter.

JP Morgan analysts said the company expects margins to expand gradually over the next few quarters, indicating it will take longer to return to Q4 FY26 margin levels of 22%. With overall margins outpacing earlier company recovery guidance for the second and third quarters of the current fiscal year, and with key support from foreign exchange rates, investors were powering the gains in Tata Elxsi’s stock on October 14.

On a long‑term basis, Tata Elxsi shares have delivered negative returns, losing 40% of their value in the last five years and 50% in the last three years, with a 30% decline in the past one‑year period. Year‑to‑date, the company’s shares have dropped 29% in 2026 but have risen 9.2% in the past one‑month period, and have risen nearly 20% in the last five market sessions. The 52‑week high was ₹5,950 on January 8, 2026, while the 52‑week low was ₹2,996 on October 8, 2026. The market capitalisation was ₹22,873 crore during the trading session on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
