Tech Mahindra Q2FY27 Results Expected to Show Strong Net Profit Growth and Possible Bonus Issue
Tech Mahindra will announce its Q2FY27 results on Thursday, October 15, with analysts anticipating a robust rise in net profit. The company is projected to report a 28% to 32% year‑over‑year increase, translating to a net profit between ₹1,530 crore and ₹1,580 crore. This growth is expected to be driven by ramp‑ups in new deals and heightened demand from the BFSI and retail verticals. In the preceding quarter, Tech Mahindra posted a net profit of ₹1,465 crore, while the same quarter last year yielded ₹1,194 crore.
Revenue for the September quarter is forecast to climb 13% to 14% year‑on‑year, reaching between ₹15,790 crore and ₹15,950 crore, up from ₹15,712 crore in the previous quarter and ₹13,995 crore in FY26’s September quarter. As per experts, the EBIT margin is expected to remain flat at 14.3% to 14.5%, with wage hikes potentially weighing on margins and rupee depreciation offering some support. These figures suggest a stable operating performance amid modest sequential growth of up to 1.5%.
Investors are closely watching the announcement for a first‑ever bonus issue and an interim dividend, both of which could influence the stock’s post‑results trajectory. Management commentary on business outlook, AI adoption investments, and key financial metrics will also be scrutinised. The board’s approval of a bonus issue would be a significant event, potentially attracting additional investor interest.
Prior to the results, Tech Mahindra shares traded over 3% higher at ₹1,627 on Thursday, October 15, after a 9% rise in two sessions from its October 12 low of ₹1,442. The stock has been largely flat this year, down 0.9% so far in 2026, but the recent rally has pushed it above both its 20‑day and 50‑day exponential moving averages, signalling a possible new uptrend.
Options market data indicate a modest expected move of 5.3% by the October 27 expiry, with the at‑the‑money call and put priced at a combined ₹83. The implied range is roughly ₹1,490 to ₹1,655. Historically, the stock has not moved more than 5% on the day after results, with the largest next‑day rise being 4.1% after Q1FY27. The upcoming quarter could differ due to the bonus issue and dividend announcement.
Traders may consider a short straddle if they expect the stock to remain within the ₹1,500 to ₹1,660 range until expiry, or a long straddle if they anticipate a significant move beyond these levels. A bull put spread could be employed if the stock closes above ₹1,633, while a bear call spread may suit a decline below ₹1,535 to ₹1,547. These strategies hinge on the stock’s ability to move quickly post‑results, as option premiums typically fall sharply thereafter.
