Bandhan Bank Shares Surge 9% Amid IHC Stake Rumours, Bank Clarifies No Deal
Bandhan Bank shares rallied 9% to touch an intraday high of ₹171.68 on Tuesday, October 13, following reports that IHC, the investment arm of Abu Dhabi’s national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al‑Nahyan, is in early‑stage talks to buy a stake in the bank’s promoter, Bandhan Financial Services. The report highlighted the involvement of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al‑Nahyan, the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi, as the key figure behind IHC’s interest in the private‑sector lender.
Bandhan Bank later clarified the development, stating that it is not aware of any such transaction and has not received any communication regarding a stake purchase. The bank added that, because it is unaware of any such development, it is not in a position to comment on the correctness of the news item and that the article has no material impact on the bank.
