Airtel Raises Postpaid Tariffs, Adds Free International Roaming Pack

Bharti Airtel announced on Wednesday that it will raise the monthly rentals of its post‑paid portfolio, effective from Thursday, 8 October. The individual post‑paid plan will now cost ₹499 per month, up from ₹449. Family plans will also see increases: the two‑connection plan will rise to ₹749 from ₹699, the three‑connection plan to ₹1,049 from ₹999, and the four‑connection plan to ₹1,249 from ₹1,199. A four‑connection plan that includes a Netflix subscription will be priced at ₹1,449.

Alongside price changes, Airtel is offering one complimentary international roaming pack per SIM each year. The five‑day pack contains 5 GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS. Customers on family plans will receive one free roaming trip per SIM per year, and they can activate the pack at a time of their choice during the trip, ensuring seamless connectivity without additional charges. This feature is part of Airtel’s effort to enhance customer experience across borders.

The revamped plans include a range of subscriptions and safety features. The ₹499 individual plan offers unlimited data and calling, spam and fraud prevention, Xstream Play Premium and Google One, and one free international roaming trip per SIM per year. The ₹749 family‑of‑two plan adds Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium, Google One, and the same roaming benefit. The ₹1,049 family‑of‑three plan bundles Apple iCloud+, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium, Google One, and one free trip per SIM. The ₹1,249 family‑of‑four plan includes the same subscriptions, while the ₹1,449 plan adds Netflix Basic.

Airtel highlighted additional benefits such as Fast Lane technology on 5G, network‑level protection against spam and fraudulent links, and access to entertainment and other services through its Postpaid Advantage Club. Amit Tripathi, Director—Market Operations, Bharti Airtel, said the company aims to deliver a best‑in‑class experience in the Indian market and to provide customers with value through entertainment and services, now including free international roaming. He added that the free roaming pack will allow customers to stay connected without worrying about extra charges while traveling abroad.

Existing Airtel customers on prepaid or older post‑paid plans can upgrade to the new tariffs via the Airtel app or at Airtel stores. Non‑Airtel customers wishing to switch to the updated post‑paid plans can also use the app or visit a store to enrol. Customers will receive notifications about the new plan options and can manage their subscriptions directly through the app. The changes are part of Airtel’s strategy to enhance customer experience and retain market share in a competitive telecom landscape.
