Godrej Consumer Products Opens First Phase of ₹250 Crore Manufacturing Plant in Kendal, Indonesia

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) said on Tuesday, October 6, that its Indonesia arm, Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI), has opened the first phase of a new manufacturing facility in the Kendal Special Economic Zone. The facility is part of an approximately ₹250 crore (IDR 500 billion) investment in Kendal aimed at strengthening the company's manufacturing footprint in the country. The first phase has been developed across 2.5 hectares of GCPI's 5.5-hectare site and is dedicated to household insecticides, strengthening the company's manufacturing capabilities to serve the Indonesian market and support exports.

Commenting on the development, Aasif Malbari, Managing Director & CEO, Godrej Consumer Products, said, "Our IDR 500 billion investment in the new Indonesian plant will expand home and personal care categories capacity by approximately 15%. This expansion addresses current capacity utilization of 75-80%, positioning us to meet rising regional demand and scale." The investment builds on GCPI's presence in Indonesia since 2010. Since then, the business has grown 4.5 times, while brands including HIT, Stella, Mitu and NYU reach approximately 1 in 4 Indonesian households, the company said in a statement.

GCPL added that the Kendal facility, built just over a year ago, has been designed with technology and data embedded into its operations from the start, creating greater visibility and enabling GCPI to operate more effectively and at speed. In its Q2 business update, the FMCG firm said its Indonesia business continues to build on the recovery witnessed over recent quarters. GCPL expects the business to deliver high teens revenue growth, supported by high single-digit volume growth, driven by improved execution, sustained market share momentum, and healthy category trends.

On a consolidated basis, Godrej Consumer Products expects to post high teens revenue growth in the September quarter (Q2 FY27), driven by healthy demand across markets, even as inflationary pressures intensified across several commodity-linked inputs. The company said its standalone business is expected to deliver revenue growth in the teens and high-single-digit underlying volume growth, despite an estimated impact of approximately 100–150 basis points from trade inventory correction. GCPL further noted that it expects to deliver another strong quarter in Q2 FY27 despite consumption being impacted by uneven monsoon conditions led by an intensifying El-Niño and inflationary pressures across several commodity-linked inputs, albeit a supportive comparator this quarter.

Input cost pressures intensified during the quarter. While certain commodities had shown signs of moderation towards the end of Q1 FY27, GCPL said Q2 witnessed renewed inflation across several key raw-material baskets, including crude-linked derivatives, palm oils, and other commodity inputs.

On the market front, Godrej Consumer Products shares settled at ₹872.50 apiece on the National Stock Exchange on Tuesday, gaining 4.24%. From the beginning of the year, GCPL shares have declined 30%. Over a month's time, the stock has advanced 1%, while for a six-month period, it has fallen 13%. Shares of the firm had hit a 52-week high of ₹1,273.90 on January 7, 2026, and a 52-week low of ₹832.60 on October 5, 2026. According to NSE data, as of October 6, 2026, Godrej Consumer Products has a total market capitalisation of ₹89,283.36 crore.
