Meesho Shares Rise 6% as Content Commerce NMV Surges 152% YoY

Meesho shares rose 6% to reach an intraday high of ₹240.50 on Tuesday, October 6, following the announcement that the company’s net merchandise value (NMV) through its content commerce ecosystem grew 152% year‑on‑year. The jump in price was supported by the fact that over 1.6 lakh active creators have joined the platform in the last 12 months, according to a regulatory filing. The filing also noted that this growth reflects a broader shift in how consumers across Bharat are shopping online, with discovery‑led journeys becoming more common.

Around 90% of Meesho’s active content commerce creators are nano creators, defined as those with fewer than 10,000 followers, and 81% of creators are based in non‑metro India. The company highlighted that homemakers account for 40% of its active creator base, while young graduates make up 30%, roughly 50,000 creators. About 78% of the homemaker creators come from non‑metro areas, underscoring the platform’s reach in smaller markets.

Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets such as Varanasi, Agartala, Jabalpur and Madurai accounted for 66% of content commerce orders, illustrating the growing importance of smaller towns and cities in creator‑led shopping. The company’s General Manager of Content Commerce, Nikita Dawda, said that Meesho spends significant time understanding how Bharat shops, discovers products and builds trust online, noting that consumers increasingly rely on videos, recommendations and creators before purchasing.

In the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Meesho reported a year‑on‑year net loss of ₹1,328 crore, narrowing from a loss of ₹2,894 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose 48% YoY to ₹3,713 crore from ₹2,504 crore in Q1 FY26, driven by improved delivery conversion, lower cancellations, reduced Return‑to‑Origin rates and higher platform monetisation. NMV grew 34% to ₹11,614 crore, supported by continued user base expansion and higher engagement levels.

At 2:45 PM on October 6, 2026, Meesho shares were trading at ₹239.75, up 5.85%. From the beginning of the year, the stock has climbed 32%, jumped 14% over a month, and surged 59% over six months. The shares hit a 52‑week high of ₹254.40 on December 18, 2025, and a 52‑week low of ₹125.56 on March 16, 2026. As of October 6, 2026, Meesho’s total market capitalisation stood at ₹1.11 lakh crore.
