ESDS Software Shares Fall to Lower Circuit After 4‑Day Winning Streak, 14% Profit Growth Not Enough

ESDS Software Solutions shares fell 5% on Friday, September 25, as investors reacted to the company’s Q1 earnings report for the financial year 2026‑27. The stock, which had been on a four‑day winning streak since the start of the week, hit a lower circuit at ₹1,760.50, down from ₹1,853.15 at the previous session. The decline snapped the upward trend that began after the company ended lower last week on Friday, and the market showed strong selling pressure with no buy orders in sight.

The company’s Q1 FY27 results showed a 14% year‑on‑year growth in consolidated net profit after tax (PAT) to ₹29 crore, up from ₹26 crore a year earlier. However, the PAT fell 57% on a quarter‑on‑quarter basis from ₹67.67 crore in Q4 FY26. Revenue from core operations rose 7.2% to ₹134 crore, but sequentially declined 20% from ₹167.50 crore in the previous quarter, reflecting margin pressure.

Total expenses increased 8.4%, squeezing margin growth. EBITDA improved 6.7% YoY to ₹56 crore, yet EBITDA margins contracted by 21 basis points to 41.89% in Q1 FY27, compared with 42.10% in the same period of FY26. The company’s management plans to focus on capex spending, allocating around ₹576 crore of funds raised from the stock market to purchase and install cloud computing equipment and infrastructure at data centres across the country.

ESDS Software’s market capitalisation stood at ₹20,634 crore as of the trading session on Friday, September 25, 2026. The stock has delivered more than 145% returns to investors since its listing on September 4, with the price surging to ₹1,859.20 on Thursday’s market from the NSE listing price of ₹757. Factoring in Friday’s decline, the stock has delivered 132% returns to investors since listing, and it has risen more than 5% over the last five market sessions.

The company’s shares had been listed on NSE and BSE on September 4, 2026. Despite the 14% profit growth, investors were concerned about shrinking margins and subdued sequential performance, which added to the weakness in sentiment amid a broader market downtrend. The lower circuit hit indicates that the market is wary of the company’s profitability trajectory.

ESDS Software’s Q1 earnings report highlighted that while overall revenue and net profit grew, margin compression and higher expenses dampened investor enthusiasm. The stock’s decline to the lower circuit after a four‑day winning streak underscores the sensitivity of the market to margin concerns, even as the company continues to raise capital for cloud infrastructure expansion.
