LG Electronics India Launches Semi-Automatic Washing Machines, Shares Rise Near 2%
LG Electronics India announced a new range of semi‑automatic washing machines on Tuesday, a development that saw its shares rise nearly 2 % on Monday afternoon. The company filed the announcement with the NSE at 12:36 pm, detailing 15 models with capacities from 8 kg to 12 kg. The launch is positioned ahead of the festive season to broaden consumer choice across family sizes, laundry needs and design preferences.
Following the filing, the stock rose to an intraday high of ₹1,684 per share before falling to around ₹1,660 by 2:45 pm. The 2 % increase reflected investor interest in the new product line, but the broader market remained subdued. The shares traded near a flat line after the initial surge, indicating cautious sentiment among traders despite the positive announcement.
LG Electronics India is the dominant player in India’s home appliances and consumer electronics market, holding a 34 % share in refrigerators, about 30 % in washing machines, roughly 20 % in television panels and 18 % in room air conditioners as of FY26. The new semi‑automatic washing machine lineup, available in 15 models, promises powerful washing performance, smarter convenience, durable construction and bold premium design, according to the company filing.
Young Min Hwang, Home Appliances Solution Sales Division Leader at LG Electronics India Ltd, said the new range is designed for consumers who expect more from everyday laundry. He added that it combines LG’s trusted technology, durable engineering, premium design and smart features that solve real household challenges, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
In Q1FY27, LG Electronics India’s revenue from operations grew 15.9 % year‑on‑year to ₹7,233 crore, driven by volume and value‑led growth. EBITDA margins expanded by 106 bps to 12.5 %, attributed to a judicious premium mix, operational volume growth and strong demand for home entertainment products. The company’s financial performance underscores its continued market leadership amid competitive pressures.
