Vikran Engineering Shares Surge After Securing ₹154-Crore Power Grid Order
Vikran Engineering shares surged 11.5 % to an intraday high of ₹62.62 on Thursday, September 24, after the company secured a ₹153.76‑crore order from Power Grid Corporation of India. The order covers the 400 kV AIS extension substation package SS136T, the extension of the 400/220 kV Tumkur‑II (AIS) Pooling Substation, and civil works for a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at the Tumkur‑II (AIS) Pooling Substation. The project is part of a transmission‑system strengthening effort to integrate 2.7 GW of renewable energy through tariff‑based competitive bidding.
The EPC player said the project is associated with transmission system strengthening at Tumkur‑II for integration of additional renewable energy potential of 2.7 GW through the tariff‑based competitive bidding route. Vikran Engineering Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Markhedkar said the order from Power Grid strengthens the company’s presence in the high‑voltage transmission infrastructure space. He added that the Tumkur‑II project supports the strengthening of India’s transmission network and the integration of additional renewable energy capacity into the grid.
The company further said that its scope includes design, engineering, manufacture, testing and supply of equipment and materials, along with transportation, unloading, storage, erection, testing and commissioning required for complete execution of the package. The work is structured under separate supply of goods and supply of services contracts, with the overall execution schedule stipulated at 21 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award. This arrangement allows for clear delineation of responsibilities and ensures compliance with regulatory timelines.
