Bajaj Finance Board to Meet Oct 1 on Fundraising Proposal Amid Share Decline

Bajaj Finance’s board will convene on 1 October to deliberate a fundraising proposal that could involve a preferential issue, a qualified institutional placement (QIP), or other methods. The announcement came after the company’s shares fell 6.4% on 24 September, despite the firm’s statement that the board would meet to discuss raising capital. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 1 October, as per a regulatory filing.

According to the filing, the Pune‑based non‑banking financial company will hold the board meeting on Thursday, 1 October. The agenda will include evaluating the proposal to raise funds through any or all of the available methods, such as a preferential issue or a qualified institutional placement. The board will assess the potential impact on capital structure and shareholder value before making a recommendation for shareholders.

The proposed fundraiser, if approved by the board, will be subject to additional regulatory and statutory approvals, including consent from the company’s shareholders. The filing notes that the board’s decision will be contingent upon obtaining all necessary approvals from relevant authorities before any capital‑raising activity can proceed. This layered approval process is standard for large NBFCs seeking to expand their capital base in India regulation.
